Purpose of the job 

 

Responsible for the operations of the plant by monitoring, directing and assessing operations personnel. Reports directly to the Plant Manager and works in unison with other plant and company personnel to ensure safe, environmentally responsible and efficient operation of the plant. Assists or helps perform other roles (such as SH&E, AA,etc) as needed.  

Duties & Responsibilities 

 

Reports directly to the Robinson Plant Manager. Leads all plant operators. Deals directly with the Production Control, Maintenance Supervisor, SH&E Coordinator, Plant Engineer, corporate personnel, contractors, suppliers, lab and the community.

 

·         Safety – OSHA Recordables, Safety Incidents

·         Environmental – Compliance with environmental permits, environmental incidents

·         Quality – RD and other quality parameter conformance

·         Operating Factor – Actual vs budget operating factor

·         Responsible for front-line supervision of Operations workforce.

·         Accountable for the execution of Operations activities and performance

·         Managing personnel – communicate performance expectations, hold people accountable for their performance, monitor and document performance (good and bad), timely follow-up of personnel issues, enforces policies, rules, and regulations, ability to implement change in a reluctant environment

·         Responsible for the training and professional development of operational workforce

·         Ensure compliance with quality, safety and environmental documentation procedures and requirements

·         Accountable for ensuring compliance with plant policies and procedures in accordance with ISO standards

·         Monitor Production to ensure that product meets customer specifications/needs, while optimizing process parameters.

·         Participate in hiring process and leading personnel

·         Assist in planning of manpower, material and equipment for routine operational activities.

·         Ensure compliance in meeting daily and scheduled operations checklist and preventive maintenance work notifications.

·         Provide resources for incident investigation and procedure review/revision process

·         Responsible for inventorying/ordering operating supplies (oils, greases, etc)

·         Seek opportunities to maximize plant operations efficiency and reliability

·         Own the process unit; review all requests for changes to the equipment, operating systems, and process parameters.

·         Participate in housekeeping, safety and environmental audits and execution of corrective action related to those audits.

 

Job requirements 

 

2+ years of experience in a production environment. Must have 2+ years of experience with environmental, quality, safety, housekeeping, and training. Production experience in the chemical industry is a plus. Operational knowledge of coke calcining is a plus. Requires good interpersonal skills, organizational skills, communication skills, and time management skills. Management experience is a plus. Computer skills: Microsoft Office 2010; statistical analysis is a plus; SAP experience is a plus. A bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience is a plus.
