Purpose of the job 

 

This position coordinates environmental, safety, and health (ESH) affairs for the Lake Charles facility.

 

Duties & responsibilities 

 

This position reports to the Plant Manager and interfaces with Corporate SH&E team, senior managers, plant managers, corporate staff, field personnel, vendors, safety and environmental consultants, and contract engineering and construction firms. The position has no direct reports.  

 

Responsible for coordinating site safety training and personnel development in the area of SH&E. Must be able to sustain existing safety and environmental processes and programs over time with enthusiasm and energy.

·         Enforce, execute, and manage Rain CII Carbon's safety and environmental policies and procedures.

·         Ensure compliance with Title V, LPDES, SWPPP, and SPCC permits and plans.

·         Conduct inspections in accordance with SWPPP and SPCC plans.

·         Assist with programs including EHS Insight, Performance Manager (Training), MasterControl policy training, SDS Online, and SH&E SharePoint Intranet.

·         Oversee inspection programs for all safety and environmental-related equipment.

·         Provide safety and environmental training to all site personnel according to the compliance calendar.

·         Serve as the on-call contact for safety and environmental issues.

·         Conduct daily environmental monitoring, data collection, and analysis.

·         Manage used oil waste in compliance with RCRA and LDEQ requirements.

·         Inspect all waste management areas.

·         Schedule off-site waste disposal.

·         Maintain records to demonstrate compliance with all safety and environmental regulations.

·         Assist with the preparation and submission of required reports and documents to LDEQ and USEPA.

·         Help with purchasing and maintaining all site PPE and safety supplies.

·         Manage monthly reporting for both safety and environmental KPIs.

·         Conduct monthly safety and environmental inspections. 

 

Job requirements 

 

This position requires a minimum of 3 - 5 years’ experience in a safety & environmental leadership role in an industrial setting as well as a bachelor’s degree in Safety or Industrial Engineering (or equivalent). This position requires the ability to understand safety, health and environmental regulations and to develop and manage site-specific policies and procedures to ensure governmental compliance and best practices.

 

The SH&E Specialist requires a current Transportation Worker Identification Card (TWIC), or eligible to obtain a TWIC before first day of employment.
